iPhone Cases Recalled Worldwide after Causing Chemical Burns

MixBin phone covers were recalled after liquid caused skin burns

(Web Desk) - Thousands of iPhone cases sold by MixBin Electronics were recalled after reports of a skin burning chemical found in them. These cases were sold at places like Victoria’s Secret, Henri Bendel, Tory Burch and Amazon.com etc. with prices ranging from $15 up to $65.

Specially designed for iPhone 6, 6s and 7, these products had been on sale since October 2015, until at least 24 people reported receiving chemical burns or skin irritation due to leaked fluid from these cases.

According to The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), at least 19 of these reports were from United States of America.

The respective phone covers, though attractive and trendy, contain a liquid that gives snowball-like effect with floating glitter. Reports say that this liquid leaked out of the phone case and caused chemical burns on the consumers’ skin.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has advised the consumers to stop using these covers which may otherwise cause skin irritation or worse and contact MixBin Electronics for refund. “One consumer reported permanent scarring from a chemical burn and another consumer reported chemical burns and swelling to her leg, face, neck, chest, upper body and hands,” according to a statement issued by CPSC.

It is unclear what the chemical liquid contained in the case was, however Amazon’s description stated “safe food grade snow globe liquid”.

The manufacturer of this product, MixBin has recalled over 275,000 phone cases. Anyone who believes they have an affected case should visit the company’s website.
